Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Instructions To Authors

Manuscripts will be printed swiftly if they are carefully written in accordance with the following instructions. Though these are desiderata and not absolute requirements. All submissions will be reviewed by at least two referees. The original manuscript along with two copies should be sent to the Editor, PJMS Marine Reference Collection Centre, University of Karachi, Karachi-75270. The Editorial Board has final authority to accept or reject any manuscript

Language: Only papers in English will be accepted.

Manuscript: The text must be typed double spaced throughout, on one side of A4 (208 X 298 mm) or equivalent paper with 2.5 cm margins, including references, tables and legends to figures. The final version of an electronic device is strongly encouraged. All the pages should be numbered consecutively. The first page should always be the title page. Do not send original drawings to the Editor, if needed we will request them.

Title: It must be typed on a separate sheet together with complete name(s) of the author(s), current postal address and E-mail address of the corresponding author, a short running title of not more than 30 characters and 3 to 6 Key Words (separated by hyphens) identifying the subject matter for retrieval system.

Abstract: This must be on a separate page and should not exceed 250 words.

Subject matter: Except for short notes, the paper should be divided into the following heads: INTRODUCTION, MATERIALS AND METHODS, RESULTS, DISCUSSION and CONCLUSIONS (if any).

Acknowledgements: This should be kept to a minimum.

Literature cited: Reference may be cited in text using the following formats: Tirmizi (1992), (Tirmizi 1992), Tirmizi et al. (1992), (Tirmizi et al. 1992) or (Tirmizi 1970 1980 1992, Ghani 1990). Bibliographic citations should be listed alphabetically at the end of the paper. The references need not be cited when the author and date are given only as authority for a taxonomic name. The accuracy of the Literature cited is the responsibility of the author.

Tables: These should be as simple as possible. Each table should be typed on a separate page and be given a concise heading.

Illustration: Drawings, including graphs, should be in Indian ink on white card paper or tracing paper. Magnifications should be indicated by scale lines. Photographs, preferably black-and-white, should be submitted in the final size with a scale line indicating magnification. For colour photographs, authors will be required to pay the full cost of printing. Legends for figures should be typed on a separate sheet in numerical order.

Proofs and Reprints: Galley proof should be corrected immediately on receipt and returned to the Editor. Author(s) may be charged for alterations at this stage (other than printer’s error), if they are numerous. Authors will be supplied 10 reprints of their articles free of cost. Extra reprints can be ordered on the form provided with the proof at the cost of Rs. 50 per page.
